Child Protection Centers
SBOrganization’s Child Protection Center in Jalalabad received funding from the Swiss Foundation of Terre des Hommes (Tdh), based in Lausanne. The center’s primary objective is to identify, prevent, and safeguard children from various forms of violence by engaging with vulnerable children and their families. Through the center’s initiatives, children are equipped with literacy and vocational skills, enhancing their prospects for reintegrating into their familial and communal settings. Moreover, parents are provided guidance to recognize the importance of education and safeguarding their children. Concurrently, efforts are directed towards enhancing the capacities of law enforcement agencies, government officials, and other stakeholders involved in juvenile justice, thus ensuring a comprehensive approach to child protection and well-being.
Targeting the Ultra Poor (TUP) Program
Through funding from the Microfinance Investment Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA) via the World Bank, SBOrganization rolled out the Targeting the Ultra-Poor (TUP) Program across Kunar, Laghman, Kandahar, Kabul, and Nangarhar Provinces. This initiative primarily focuses on empowering ultra-poor female-headed households, enabling them to achieve food security and financial stability. Over a span of two years, program participants undergo skills training, receive a living allowance, and are provided with productive livestock to kickstart their chosen ventures. Additionally, they benefit from literacy classes and are encouraged to enroll their children in school. Financial literacy forms a crucial component of the program, with participants receiving education on banking basics, including the establishment and maintenance of savings accounts. SBOrganization target outreach encompasses 1000 families in Kunar, 1000 in Laghman, 1500 in Kabul, 1000 in Kandahar, and 3060 ultra-poor female-headed households in Nangarhar provinces.
